About The Role
Join our team in Austin, TX as an experienced Technical Writer. In this position you will collaborate directly with development teams within a cross-functional, distributed environment. A strong technical background is essential, enabling you to work effectively with software development engineers, product managers, and program managers. You must have excellent communication skills and a proven ability to produce high-quality technical publications. You should also have an interest in developing, using, and documenting AI tools that enhance developer workflows and technical writing.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, organize, and write technical content for internal developer audiences, focusing on onboarding, concepts, and use cases (user manuals, onboarding guides, system architecture overviews, how-to articles and FAQs, release notes, and configuration guides).
- Define documentation needs with teams and collaborate with engineers to develop and maintain documentation sets.
- Work closely with Product Managers, UX Designers, Development teams, and QA to collect source material.
- Understand new applications and features, translating technical and complex workflows into clear, accessible content.
- Create documentation tailored to multiple audiences, including developers, internal stakeholders, and business users.
- Develop documentation templates and style guides to ensure consistency across all deliverables.
- Lead content strategies that improve onboarding efficiency and user enablement.
- Review and revise documentation in response to product updates and user feedback.
- Coordinate with cross‑functional teams to ensure documentation aligns with product development timelines.
Required Qualifications
- 8-12 years of experience in technical writing, ideally within a product-based or SaaS environment.
- Demonstrated experience producing onboarding documentation and user guides for cross‑functional teams.
- Strong ability to understand complex technical concepts and explain them clearly.
- Experience with API or NLP documentation, system diagrams, or developer‑focused content.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality content.
Proficiency With Tools Such As
- Confluence, Notion, or similar documentation platforms.
- Markdown, HTML/CSS (preferred).
- Adobe FrameMaker, MadCap Flare, or similar (preferred but optional).
- Basic familiarity with version control systems like Git.
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree or certification in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience working with enterprise‑level software and internal tools.
