Job Summary The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a Senior Web Designer and Content Strategist on the Dahlonega campus. The Senior Web Designer and Content Strategist is a strategic member of the Web Communications team. This role ensures that the institutional website, ung.edu, and its digital properties deliver an engaging, on‑brand, and accessible experience that drives enrollment, strengthens institutional reputation, and showcases mission‑driven storytelling. In addition to guiding user experiences (UX), using data‑driven design, and content strategy, the position mentors a team of designers and collaborates with Strategic Communications & Marketing (SC&M) to establish a web presence that is accessible and fully integrated into our brand platform and student recruitment funnel.

Responsibilities

Lead & Integrate Digital Strategy: Drive the strategic vision for ung.edu as a top‑tier digital platform for recruitment, engagement, and reputation. Partner with SC&M leadership on aligning web with brand campaigns, storytelling, and enrollment strategies.

Analytics & Optimization: Leverage Google Analytics (GA4), Google Tag Manager, HotJar… etc., to measure performance and provide actionable insights. Translate insights into improvements in SEO, GEO, content engagement, and conversion outcomes tied to enrollment and reputation.

Leadership & Team Development: Supervise and mentor web designers, building capacity in design thinking, accessibility, and data‑informed storytelling. This includes guidance and refining standard operating procedures (SOPs), information architecture, user experience, visual styling, branding, accessibility (WCAG 2.1), and other elements that align with the content strategy.

Content & UX Governance: Ensure content strategy, information architecture (IA), accessibility, and UX best practices are implemented consistently. Champion storytelling that is inclusive, student‑centered, and on‑brand.

Innovation & Emerging Trends: Monitor evolving trends in UX, SEO, AI‑driven content, and digital marketing; recommend and test innovative practices that position UNG as a leader.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Knowledge of modern front‑end development, HTML, CSS, and strong understanding of JavaScript. This should be aligned with a proficiency in UX, UI, and web Accessibility (WCAG 2.1).

An effective collaborator and communicator who can translate complex digital strategies for senior leadership and foster strong team growth.

The role requires a proactive and organized self‑starter with a keen attention to detail and the ability to multitask.

Strong commitment to accessibility and inclusive digital storytelling is essential for strengthening our institutional reputation.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required.

8+ years of experience in web design that includes leading web/digital strategy for enrollment, marketing, or brand storytelling.

Demonstrated experience implementing and executing content strategy, SEO, and analytic reporting.

At least five years of experience working in a content management system and supervising team members.

Preferred Qualifications

Degree in Web Design or Communications and Marketing preferred.

Certifications in Content Marketing/Strategy, or Data Analytics related are preferred.

Experience in a higher education setting preferred.

Experience using Google Analytics and similar tool preferred.

Experience with Cascade Hannon Hil CMS preferred.

The ideal candidate will have professional experience in data analytics search engine optimization and be proficient in using Google Analytics 4 (GA4) and similar tools to translate data into actionable strategies that drive enrollment and engagement.
