Job Summary The STEPS Copy Editor will play a key role in developing, refining, and producing high-quality written content for the Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) Extension. This position involves editing and proofreading materials across multiple platforms, including print publications. This role ensures all content is clear, engaging, and appropriate for the target audience's reading level.

Responsibilities

Edit written content for a variety of communication channels, including print publications.

Ensure all written materials are accurate, well-structured, and tailored to the appropriate audience. Collaborate with subject matter experts to translate complex information into accessible and engaging content.

Support the FCS Extension peer review process for educational publications and curriculum materials as needed.

Work closely with the FCS Communications team, including graphic designers and IT professionals, to produce educational materials.

Maintain consistency in tone, style, and branding across all FCS Extension publications.

Requirements

Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with attention to detail.

Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a collaborative environment.

Familiarity with educational or Extension content is preferred.

Must be proficient with Microsoft Office software Word, Publisher, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Shift Work Shift: Monday‑Friday 8:00AM‑5:00PM. Expected # of Hours Per Week: 25‑35.

Physical Requirements Sitting for long periods of time, occasional lifting, pushing, pulling of objects.
