Job Purpose This candidate will be responsible for producing accurate and detailed process drawings and piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) for new build and retrofit (revamp) projects. This role supports the design, fabrication, and commissioning of natural gas compression systems, ensuring all drafting work adheres to industry standards and project specifications.
Duties And Responsibilities
Assist with developing the 3D models of the package from P&ID’s
Produce detailed and accurate 3D model and 2D drawings for fabrication
Accountability for dimensional accuracy of all models and drawings
Follow industry and established company engineering/design standards
Work closely with project engineer and senior designer to ensure accuracy of scope
Liaise with fabrication shop, purchasing and third parties to ensure accuracy/quality of final product
Read, understand and interpret project / production schedules for multiple projects
Prioritize project workload to ensure drawing dates are met
Report design schedule dates/updates
Develop and revise P&IDs, process flow diagrams (PFDs), and general arrangement (GA) drawings for natural gas compression systems.
Create and update as-built drawings following installation and commissioning.
Collaborate with process engineers, mechanical designers, and project managers to accurately interpret design requirements.
Prepare detailed fabrication drawings, including bill of materials (BOM), for skids, piping systems, and equipment layouts.
Incorporate client specifications, engineering standards (e.g., ASME, API), and company procedures into design documents.
Assist in revamp projects by analyzing existing drawings and developing updated layouts for retrofit and upgrade work.
Maintain drawing databases and document control systems.
Ensure drawing accuracy, proper revision control, and timely delivery of documentation
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree, Associates Degree, Diploma or Technical School Training in ME, EE, Computer Aided Design Technology or related field
Proficient in CadWorx, Autocad, Vault, Compress, Design Calc, and Solidworks
2+ years designing reciprocating natural gas compression packages or modular assemblies including piping and structural components.
Working knowledge of ANSI B31.3
Working knowledge of ASME Section VIII
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Strong creative mechanical and structural design ability
Results-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Commitment to quality, accuracy, and thoroughness
Strong verbal and written communication skills
