JOB TITLE Branding Iron Sports Writer
JOB PURPOSE Provide news, feature or game wrap up stories to newspaper for publication in print and/or online editions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Produce at least four stories per week.
Pick up assignments from editor.
Meet with editor regularly.
Create story ideas for consideration of sports editor.
Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Student
Access to personal transportation
Newspaper experience, including writing news stories.
Must be available to start work Aug. 18, 2025
Must be available for publication deadlines on Sundays and Wednesday nights.
Must be available Tuesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. for training.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of AP and BI stylebooks
Knowledge of basic journalistic style and how to write newspaper articles.
Knowledge of sports and sports media coverage.
