Opening for an A/V Tech Support Specialist. This is a full‑time 40‑hour a week position. Overtime and weekends are required. Seeking qualified individuals who will provide audio‑visual technology & equipment support for on‑site users and our Frederick campus. Potential candidates must demonstrate excellent customer‑service skills and technical proficiency in Microsoft Office. The AV Technician Support Specialist reports directly to the ITSC/AV Manager.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Train end‑users on A/V systems & equipment
Provide technical setup and support for Web Conferencing (Zoom, Teams, WebEx, etc.) and troubleshoot equipment
Livestream campus lectures & events
Set up and tear down A/V before and after events
CATV maintenance & repair
In‑depth knowledge of audio systems, mics, mixers, amps, speakers
Live sound management of audio equipment and mixing board for indoor or outdoor events in arenas, chapels, theaters, auditoriums or lecture halls
Responsible for sound checks, equipment placement, volume and quality of sound
Understand and troubleshoot all A/V equipment as well as auditorium & classroom configurations
Document A/V system processes
Coordinate tech & A/V equipment for internal and external users & event requirements
Working knowledge of a range of A/V diagnostic utilities & tools
Collaborate with ITSC/AV Manager on A/V projects and expansion plans
Install, maintain and upgrade equipment and its associated infrastructure
Receive and respond to incoming calls, texts, and/or e‑mails regarding A/V software/hardware problems
Run diagnostic tests to isolate system problems and make recommendations for potential solutions
Perform related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the department
Work independently and with the ITSC Team when necessary
Supervise AV Student Techs
Minor Tasks
Inventory of A/V equipment and tracking
Make Ethernet and coax cables
Other duties as assigned
Special Knowledge
Technical training and experience in personal computer hardware and software, audio visual systems, and networking is required
Familiarity with PCs, cameras, printers, projectors, touch panels, sound systems including mixers, amplifiers, microphones, etc.
Two to three years AV technician or AV installer experience
Proficiency and in‑depth knowledge of AV systems
Ability to read architectural and schematic diagrams (system and building drawings)
Proficiency with PCs and MS Office
Audio DSP programming and balancing
Crestron/AUX/Extron Control System loading and debugging (programming is a plus)
VTC and Digital Media knowledge and experience
Physical Requirements
Ability to climb stairs
Normal, corrective vision range; ability to distinguish letters, numbers & symbols
Ability to lift and move computer equipment, if needed, up to 40 pounds
Must be able to negotiate between various buildings on campus
Must be able to work weekends and overtime based on diverse remote learning class/event schedules
Job Requirements: Education, Experience and Skills
Excellent customer service skills
Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office
AA or vocational high school diploma in audio‑visual engineering or related field and two (2) years as an A/V Technician, or high school diploma/GED and six (6) years of A/V systems experience
Familiarity with PCs, cameras, printers, projectors, PA systems including mixers, amplifiers, microphones and other office equipment
Customer‑focused, promote continuous quality improvement, demonstrate positive attitudes and actions through courtesy, congeniality, cooperation, professionalism, and sensitivity
Exceptionally strong interpersonal skills with focus on rapport building, listening, questioning, and strong documentation skills
Willingness to learn and be part of a team
Salary/Benefits Minimum Pay Rate:
$22.00‑$24.00/hour (compensation dependent on experience, education, and qualifications)
