Our client, an apparel company, is looking for an Associate Technical Designer for their Kids Apparel to join their team in NYC!
Base pay range $70,000.00/yr - $75,000.00/yr
Responsibilities
Support multiple Girls’ and Boys’ categories (2T–16), including tops, dresses, skirts, pants, athleisure, sweaters, and sleepwear across both knits and wovens.
Take precise measurements on Fit, PP, and TOP samples and document results accurately.
Participate in fit sessions, capturing clear and detailed notes.
Identify fit, construction, and workmanship issues and clearly communicate all needed adjustments and revisions to factories.
Develop initial tech packs for costing and early fit submissions.
Verify that all updates have been completed on pre-production samples to ensure quality and consistency before bulk production.
Partner with private-label accounts to achieve their specific fit requirements.
Maintain understanding of children’s apparel safety guidelines and compliance standards.
Apply grading knowledge and create graded specifications when needed.
Follow the development calendar closely and meet all key deadlines.
Monitor and manage sample status throughout the process.
Help maintain an organized and up-to-date sample library.
Build strong working relationships with design, merchandising, production, and sales teams.
Qualifications
Degree in Technical Design, Fashion Design, or a related field.
At least 4 years of experience in Technical Design.
Strong knowledge of garment construction, sewing techniques, patternmaking, production processes, and textiles.
Proficient in PLM systems and Excel; familiarity with Clo3D is a plus.
Highly detail-oriented, proactive, eager to learn, and collaborative.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
