Job Type: Full-time
Position Overview As an integral member of a cross‑functional team, collaborate with Project Engineering, Industrial Design, and Factory Engineering to design and develop new fitness products. Perform a variety of technical assignments to support various projects through the Innovation and New Product Development (NPD) processes. Prepare CAD models and drawings for various components and assemblies. Ensure compliance with product specifications, internal and external standards, and testing requirements. Complete document control tasks relating to the creation, maintenance, organization and improvement of technical related documentation. This is a non‑supervisory position.
Responsibilities
Work with Design Engineers, Industrial Design, Factory Engineer, and other members of the product development team to translate customer requirements into engineering product specifications.
Frequent communication with North America and Asia‑based project team members to ensure alignment on technical issues and project deliverables.
Create CAD models and drawings for components and assemblies for products from prototype phases through production.
Hold technical design reviews and other engineering meetings to support product development.
Develop and maintain estimated tooling/cost estimates.
Develop and maintain a structured BOM (Bill Of Materials).
Coordinate with factory engineering to ensure the product is manufacturable and meets the costing requirements defined in the product specification.
Determine and maximize container utilization and package size.
Participate in DFMEAs, complete or support strength and fatigue analysis of all design proposals to ensure the product meets the design requirements. Support testing to validate strength and fatigue analysis.
Meet all project milestones and deadlines.
Review quality and inspection data, perform product sample reviews and make design decisions, support value‑add/value‑engineering opportunities for cost and manufacturing efficiency.
Support and troubleshoot the introduction of new projects into NPD, developing functional requirements and test plans.
Assist Asia‑based engineering and factory manufacturing teams on design requirements.
Adaptability to support other projects as assigned.
Requirements
Two‑year technical degree or the equivalent of at least 5 years of experience.
7+ years of design experience.
Experience with plastic injection molding.
Experience designing consumer products preferred.
Proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks).
Strong mechanical aptitude, with hobbies or projects showcasing your passion for design.
Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Ability and willingness to travel both internationally and domestically preferred.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work well with numerous diverse groups and individuals.
