Music Therapist Faculty Member Manchester Community Music School is a non‑profit organization committed to the mission of “changing lives through the power of learning, sharing, and making music.” Located in historic North Manchester, MCMS provides quality musical instruction, music therapy, and performance opportunities for people of all ages. The Music School is home to 50 of New England’s finest music educators and music therapists and over 1,500 students and clients from across New Hampshire. As a cultural performance center, we offer programs in an environment that encourages participation, interaction, and enjoyment. We are dedicated to supporting the artistic development of the community through our programs, and our classes are open to all regardless of age, race, national origin, physical challenges, or ability to pay.
We are looking for a Board Certified Music Therapist to join our MT team! Our Music Therapists provide in‑house MT services, as well as services within our community partnerships with public schools, adult day programs, after school programs, and assisted‑living facilities throughout Southern New Hampshire. This full‑time position includes a focus on one‑on‑one and group work.
Interested and qualified individuals should be comfortable working independently, in 1:1 and group sessions with individuals of all ages and all abilities, onsite at MCMS and in a variety of community settings. The schedule will include daytime, after school, and the possibility of evening hours. Reliable transportation is required as this position involves travel in Manchester and Southern New Hampshire communities. MCMS provides mileage reimbursement at the current IRS rate as well as compensation for time traveled per week.
Responsibilities
Planning, organizing, and leading goal‑focused music therapy sessions for groups and individuals with diverse skills, abilities, and needs in a variety of locations.
Documenting all music therapy sessions and client communications, and completing required periodic reports.
Collaborating with members of treatment teams, including family members and staff.
Communicating and meeting with MCMS Music Therapy Department staff on a regular and ongoing basis.
Employing good communication skills and time‑management skills to balance a busy schedule across various locations.
Proficient in database and word‑processing‑related skills.
Qualifications
Board Certified Music Therapist (BC-MT).
Experience working independently in 1:1 and group sessions.
Ability to travel within Manchester and Southern New Hampshire.
Strong organizational and documentation skills.
