Assistant Designer – Children’s Apparel Network

Location: New York, NY (On-site)

Position Type: Full-Time



Children’s Apparel Network, a leader in kids’ fashion known for innovative design and strong brand partnerships, is seeking a highly creative and detail-oriented Assistant Designer to join our growing team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about children’s apparel, eager to learn, and ready to contribute to a fast-paced, collaborative design environment.


Key Responsibilities


• Assist designers in creating seasonal collections across multiple children’s categories (Boys Toddler, 4-7, 8-20)


• Develop tech packs, CADs, color-ups, and presentation boards with strong attention to detail.


• Support in trend research, market shopping, and pulling inspiration for upcoming seasons.


• Maintain fabric, trim, and sample libraries; track samples and approvals through development.


• Communicate with cross-functional teams including production, merchandising, and licensors.


• Prepare materials for internal and buyer meetings.


• Ensure designs align with brand aesthetic, licensing requirements, and cost parameters.


Qualifications


• Degree in Fashion Design or related field.


• 1–2 years of experience in apparel design preferred (internships included).


• Strong Illustrator and Photoshop skills required; experience with PLM systems a plus.


• Understanding of garment construction, fabrics, prints, and children’s wear trends.


• Highly organized, proactive, and detail-driven with excellent multitasking abilities.


• A team player with strong communication skills and a positive, solution-oriented attitude.
