Event Technician, Audio Visual – Marriott Cool Springs, Franklin TN

An Event Technician, Audio Visual manages the setup and operation of basic audiovisual equipment in a hospitality setting, ensuring complete customer satisfaction. The position reports to an Operations Manager, Operations Director or Director of Event Technology.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Equipment Operation
    • Ensures flawlessly executed events through accurate and timely setup, operation, and breakdown of basic audiovisual equipment.
  • Customer Service
    • Strives to exceed expectations and needs of internal and external customers.
    • Maintains positive relationships through effective communication.
    • Meets with guests on site to ensure their needs are met and equipment is functioning.
    • Monitors events and checks in on customers throughout the day.
    • Understands and fosters the hotel/client relationship.
  • Technical Ability
    • Demonstrates basic operational ability to troubleshoot and problem solve equipment and software issues.
    • Handles equipment challenges and changes timely and professionally.
  • Systems Knowledge
    • Understands company processes, follows procedures, completes systems entry and paperwork accurately.
    • Uses equipment sheets to determine scheduled equipment for setup and strike.
    • Interacts with other staff and outside vendors for equipment.
    • Increases revenue by utilizing floor up‑selling techniques.
    • Works with clients to finalize invoices.
    • Completes order entries in Navigator as needed.

Job Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required. Associate’s degree preferred.

  • 1 year of customer service or hospitality experience preferred.
  • 1 year of audio‑visual experience or equivalent in an educational environment preferred.
  • A valid driver’s license required for team members that may operate company vehicles.
  • Additional DOT requirements may need to be met if applicable.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Work Environment

Work is performed in a hotel/convention center environment with moderate exposure to outdoor temperatures and to dirt, sand and/or dust. The conditions will vary between moderately quiet to noisy volumes. Team members will use high‑end audio‑visual equipment and electrical components and will be exposed to heights via lifts and ladders. Team members may be asked to work in multiple hotel locations. Working times include irregular hours and on‑call status including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Appearance guidelines as defined by Encore must be adhered to.

Compensation

Hourly Pay Range: $13.58 - $16.64. The compensation offered for this role is determined based on the qualifications outlined in the job posting for the specified location. Final compensation is based on a number of factors including location, travel, relevant work experience, or particular skills and expertise. Some positions may be eligible for other compensation such as potential overtime, bonuses or incentives.
