Position Overview
The Department of Film Studies at the University of North Carolina Wilmington invites applications for up to two tenure‑track Assistant Professor positions. Successful candidates will begin teaching in August 2026.
Responsibilities
Teach a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses in your research area, as well as some core courses in film art, film theory, film historiography, and world cinema. Expand the department’s existing historical and/or international coverage through your scholarship and teaching.
Minimum Qualifications
- PhD in Film Studies or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated potential for teaching excellence and scholarly productivity.
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD in Film Studies at time of application.
Eligibility
Final candidates must demonstrate eligibility to teach assigned courses, meeting credentialing requirements based on transcripts and documentation. Applicants who are ABD will be considered; if a PhD is not confirmed by August 1, 2026 the appointment will be at the rank of Lecturer for the first academic year, with the PhD required by July 1, 2027 for continued employment.
