Position Overview

Fullerton Library Director to manage day-to-day activities of Fullerton Main Library and Hunt Branch. Manages 24 regular employees and an operating budget of approximately $4.9 million. Works closely with the Library Board of Trustees and the City Manager’s Office.

Salary & Benefits

Up to $192,781 annually, depending on qualifications. Future general salary increases: 3% effective July 4, 2026.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee operations of Fullerton Main Library and Hunt Branch.
  • Manage department of 24 employees and the $4.9 million budget.
  • Collaborate with the Library Board of Trustees and the City Manager’s Office.
  • Lead and motivate staff, ensuring ethical decision-making.
  • Maintain and improve library services and performance.

Education & Experience

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university and a master’s degree in library science or a related field.
  • Minimum eight years of recent, continuous, progressively responsible professional public library experience, including at least three years at a mid‑management/supervisory level or higher in an organization comparable to Fullerton.
