Media Communications & Promotion Specialist (Japanese Bilingual)

Location: El Monte, CA

Employment Type: Full-time

Salary Range: $67,000 – $77,000 per year

Work Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

A well‑established international food trading and distribution company is seeking a Media Communications & Promotion Specialist to join their marketing team. The company has a long history of promoting Japanese food culture and supporting culinary professionals through various media and event initiatives.

Overview

This position is responsible for creating and managing bilingual (English/Japanese) content to support corporate branding, promotions, public relations, and community engagement. The ideal candidate will be a creative communicator with strong writing and editing skills and experience managing media and event campaigns.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and coordinate bilingual marketing and PR materials that align with company goals and branding.
• Write, edit, and translate (EN ↔ JP) content for websites, newsletters, social media, and print materials.
• Manage content updates and posting schedules across social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, etc.).
• Collaborate with design and sales teams to create engaging visuals and promotional campaigns.
• Support cross‑functional events and public relations activities, including product promotions, cultural events, and media collaborations.
• Plan and assist in executing community‑based events and sponsorships to strengthen brand visibility.
• Maintain media contact lists and distribute press releases or announcements.
• Participate in company meetings and events, occasionally outside of standard working hours.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Language: Native‑level English and business‑level (or higher) Japanese proficiency required (read/write/speak/listen).
• Education: Bachelor ’ s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field.
• Experience: 4+ years of relevant experience in PR, media, or communications.
• Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills in both languages.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and multitasking abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and WordPress or similar CMS tools.
• Familiarity with social media management and scheduling tools.
• Knowledge of Japanese food and beverage culture is a plus.
• Must be able to work onsite in El Monte, CA, and attend occasional events outside of normal hours.
