Role

FOX 5 San Diego/KUSI News duopoly is seeking a Reporter for our broadcast and digital platforms. The successful applicant will have a proven ability to enterprise stories that connect with audiences across all devices and platforms. A typical day could involve general assignment reporting with live shots or returning to station to host/produce live streaming news programs.

Responsibilities

• Accurate and balanced reporting of news stories following company standards for journalistic integrity and quality
• Contribute daily to our digital platforms by writing web articles or producing/hosting programs for our CTV streaming app
• Be creative with how to present stories to engage today’s audiences, tailoring content for different devices and platforms
• Collaborate with photographer, producer, assignment desk on live shots as needed
• Attend editorial meetings and regularly pitch original story ideas
• Set up, write, and package to meet deadlines daily
• Develop community contacts and a network of news sources
• Attend station partnerships in community
• Perform other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communication, or a related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and work‑related experience
• Video editing and livestreaming experience preferred

• Uphold station values and model professionalism on and off the air
• Exceptional writing, grammar, and spelling
• Excellent communication skills with ability to ad‑lib at length when required
• Strong on‑air presentation – must be credible, personable and engaging
• Flexible with schedule and willing to work additional hours or days or different shifts and holidays as required by news content
• Strong attention to detail
• Must be able to accept constructive direction and feedback
• Compensation starting at $31/hour, commensurate with experience and skill level.
