Position Summary

The Department of English at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro invites applications for an assistant professor position in creative writing (poetry), to begin August 1st, 2026. Candidates should possess the ability to teach creative writing and literature at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

  • Teach creative writing and literature courses across undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Provide mentorship to MFA students.
  • Engage in scholarly activities in poetry, including research, publication, and conference presentation.
  • Participate in departmental service and institutional duties.

Specialized in poetry writing with a focus on form, structure, and technique. Candidates are expected to publish a minimum of one book of poetry with a nationally recognized press and demonstrate excellence in teaching. Competitive salary and benefits package. An MFA in poetry is preferred.

  • Publication of at least one book of poetry with a nationally recognized press.
