Visiting Assistant Professor in Creative Writing (Poetry)

The Department of English at The Pennsylvania State University at University Park, Pennsylvania, invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor in Creative Writing (Poetry) to begin August 2026.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Teach two courses per semester to both undergraduate students and graduate program students.
• Advise theses and mentor creative writing students.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The BA/MA program offers an integrated undergraduate/graduate degree in English with a creative writing concentration in poetry and/or prose. Students complete the program in two years – their senior year and an additional MA year.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Terminal degree (MFA or PhD) in English, Creative Writing, or a related field by the appointment date.
• Strong record of teaching and poetry publication in prominent venues.
• Ideal candidate will have at least one book of poems in print or under contract.
• Position will be filled at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor.
