Job Summary

Franklin Covey Co. is offering public relations internship for an intern to work in their Corporate Public Relations Department. The position is available immediately. The position will include many opportunities to further develop and apply skills and talents learned in a university's communications/public relations program, as well as the opportunity to participate as a learner in FranklinCovey's learning solutions. The hours are flexible.

Franklin Covey offers a fast-paced, changing environment for an individual who is seeking to apply their public relations skills and talents. The internship will provide the intern with meaningful work, an opportunity to contribute to the company's success and to build an impressive portfolio. The candidate should have excellent verbal and written communication skills, be highly motivated, flexible, and be a self-starter.

Essential Job Functions

Understanding the role of public relations in an organization, including the strategy, objectives and tactics

Understanding the power of media relations by assisting in pitching and building relationships with local, regional and national media relating to FranklinCovey's brand, thought leadership, campaigns, products, offerings and services

Understanding and writing press releases and media alerts as tools for garnering interviews with press, including tracking press coverage and maintaining records as it relates to coverage

To understand and experience the role that public relations plays within an organization, including partnering and building relationships with internal and external stakeholders

To utilize skills, talents and abilities to build an impressive resume and portfolio to secure employment

Key Responsibilities

Adherence to a weekly schedule, writing and editing press releases and media alerts, pitching media, monitoring placements, preparing press briefings, media relations, building relationships with internal and external stakeholders, research and information gathering, media spokesperson training, utilizing social media venues (blogs, tweets, etc.), and day-to-day responsibilities as needed, including administrative duties.

Basic Qualifications

Pursuing or completed Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, or related field

Writing Samples (e.g. articles, press releases, etc.)

Preferred Skills & Experience

Effective verbal and written communication

Strong organizational skills and processes

Ability to think critically and problem solve

Self-motivated and strong initiative to learn and contribute

Desire to learn new skills and a professional drive
