Senior Project Architect – Justice Studio
Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC) is a large privately held architecture and engineering firm operating throughout the Southeast. GMC is seeking a Senior Project Architect for justice architectural projects in South Carolina. The role focuses on the technical execution and delivery of exceptional projects.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Leads project team working within the GMC Architecture Community framework respecting team structure, project roles and responsibilities, and utilization of production tools and standards.
- Member of multi-office architecture practice sharing, contributing, and learning best practices for delivering exceptional projects that include local government/civic, academic and healthcare.
- Broad general knowledge of architectural principles and practices, and proven ability to apply them.
- Ability to function effectively within multi-disciplinary teams.
- Ability to work on multiple projects of moderate size or portions of major projects.
- Understanding of the entire project process—development/scoping, design, and construction.
- Ability to design and detail a complete project, system component or process.
- Prepares complete project documents including the Project Manual/Specifications.
- Understands economic and decision analysis principles in area including financial, regulatory, and environmental issues.
- Proficient in Revit Architecture, and complementary design tools.
- Assigns tasks to and directs architects, technicians, and administrative staff.
- Plans and coordinates detailed aspects of the architectural work.
- Prepares scopes, budgets and schedules for assignments.
- Independently performs most assignments with instructions as to the general results expected.
- Interacts with clients, customers, officials, contractors, and others.
- Attends project meetings and presents specific aspects of architectural assignment.
- Demonstrates leadership skills and continuous improvement with decision-making, time management and delegation.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor of Architecture or Master of Architecture from an accredited architectural program.
- Minimum of 10+ years of relevant experience.
- Registered Architect or completed NCARB Program.
- Proficient in Revit.
- Must be able to listen and communicate effectively.
- Must be a self-starter, team player and able to establish good working relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, team members, and other employees.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to balance multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Ability to adapt to changing business needs.
- Ability to use good judgment and make timely decisions.
Travel Requirements
- Travel to project sites may be required as GMC Architecture has clients and projects in 36 states.
