Overview

Join to apply for the Spanish Freelance Writer role at TransPerfect. DataForce by TransPerfect is seeking several Spanish (US) Freelance Writers to produce high‑quality content. This opportunity is part of an innovative project that uses creative contributions to test and improve Machine Translation technology.

Task Summary

Writers will be required to complete 1 short story of approximately 6,500 words. The task begins with submitting a brief plot for approval. Once the plot is approved, writers will submit the first 1,000 words of the story for review. Upon approval of the initial excerpt, the writers can resume and complete the story within the specified timeframe. Revisions may be required based on feedback received.

The short story must be in one of the following genres, assigned based on the writer’s selected preference:

• Kids
• Thriller/Mystery
• Self‑help
• Romance
• Memoir/Autobiography/Biography – can be on anyone the writer chooses, even a made up person.

NOTE: AI tools are not allowed for creation. All submitted content will be reviewed for plagiarism and AI usage. Work must be written entirely independently.

Job Requirements

• Residence in the United States
• Idiomatic fluency in Spanish (US)
• Excellent writing skills in Spanish (US) – grammar, spelling
• Working proficiency in English – all communication and task guidelines will be in English
• Graduate or undergraduate degree in literature, journalism, or creative writing and/or proven experience in journalism, writing, or content creation
• Ability to start and complete tasks within the given deadline
• Strong attention to detail
• Submission of a portfolio with 3 writing samples (400–700 words each), including at least one in the preferred genre
