Position Title Senior Design Specialist / Sr Mechanical Designer
Location San Jose, CA
Pay Rate $60-$67 per hour
Position Description CREO experience is a MUST for this role. The Sr. Mechanical Designer will support various program initiatives and be responsible for creating innovative and practical mechanical and electro-mechanical concepts and designs for components, assemblies, tools, and products of varying complexity.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate closely with engineering, vendors, manufacturing, quality, and customers to define and meet design specifications.
Ensure designs are free of layout and process defects.
Apply Computer-Aided Design (CAD) methodologies, theories, and techniques.
Review engineering documents for compliance with military and engineering standards, specifications, procedures, and dimensional accuracy.
Provide expert technical consultation across the division and to customer stakeholders.
Develop highly innovative design concepts for both new product development and existing product enhancements.
Prepare detailed design layouts, schematics, and sketches, including test plans and specifications.
Produce drawing packages in accordance with military or ASME standards.
Check completed design documentation (layouts, test plans, procedures, change history) for clarity, completeness, and conformance to all applicable standards.
Coordinate with systems engineers to ensure all designs meet contractual requirements.
Evaluate manufacturability and integration viability of designs, including tolerance, fit, finish, materials, and engineering specifications.
Note Position is onsite only. Remote work is not available for this role.
Skills Required
Proficiency in tolerance analysis and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
Advanced CAD skills, including 3D modeling and file manipulation.
In-depth knowledge of military drawings and specifications, including MILSPEC and MIL-STD.
Strong understanding of production methods and human factors.
Comprehensive understanding of product design from component to system level.
Experience with Creo 9 CAD software is required.
Knowledge of Model-Based Definition (MBD) is a strong plus.
Experience Required
Minimum 9 years of design/drafting experience using Pro-E/Creo CAD systems.
Education Required
Associate Degree with an emphasis in engineering drafting/design, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Minimum of 9 years of total drafting and design experience, including 5 years in advanced design concepts and applications.
