Responsibilities
The Senior UI/UX Specialist leads the design process from concept to delivery, conducting extensive user research, developing user flows, wireframes, and high‑fidelity prototypes, and ensuring that user needs and business requirements are met.
Establish and maintain design systems, ensuring consistency and scalability across products, contributing to a cohesive and unified user experience.
Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Engineers, and stakeholders, advocating for user‑centered design principles and translating complex business requirements into elegant and effective solutions; stay ahead of the latest industry trends, driving continuous improvement in the user experience and contributing significantly to the overall product strategy.
Analyze user data, conduct usability testing, and translate insights into actionable design improvements, ensuring that data‑driven decisions inform design decisions.
Mentor and provide guidance to mid‑level and Junior UI/UX Specialists, fostering their professional development and expertise in user‑centered design.
Possess a strong understanding of human‑centered design (HCD) principles and apply them throughout the design process, ensuring that solutions are user‑centered, accessible, and inclusive; demonstrate a deep understanding of human factors engineering (HFE) principles, considering ergonomic and cognitive factors in their designs to optimize user comfort, efficiency, and safety.
Minimum Qualifications
BA/BS in a field necessary to assume Senior UI/UX Specialist III duties or a minimum of 9 years of relevant UI/UX Specialist III experience.
High School and 4 years of additional experience or Associate's Degree and 2 years of additional experience may be exchanged in lieu of a required Bachelor's degree.
A candidate holding a relevant Master’s degree may be granted 2 years’ experience credit for that extra education. A candidate holding a relevant PhD degree may be granted 4 years’ experience credit for that extra education.
Five years of position‑specific relevant experience.
Deep understanding of user‑centered design principles and methodologies. Expertise in creating user flows, wireframes, and high‑fidelity prototypes. Proficiency in UI/UX design tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD).
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Design, Human‑Computer Interaction (HCI), or a related field.
Familiarity with front‑end development technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
Experience at a DoD Combatant Command (e.g., SOUTHCOM, NORTHCOM, CENTCOM, CYBERCOM, INDOPACOM, EUCOM, AFRICOM, STRATCOM, TRANSCOM, SOCOM, SPACECOM) or a component is desired.
Clearance Requirements
Must have a current/active Secret clearance.
