Development and Communications Coordinator

The Western Massachusetts Training Consortium (the Consortium) is hiring for a Full-Time Development and Communications Coordinator. This is a 40-hour/week, non-exempt position. Pay is $22 per hour. At the Consortium, we are a learning organization dedicated to supporting twelve inclusive communities across Western Massachusetts and valuing lived experience. Responsibilities:

Communications & Content Creation

Partner with the Organizational Development and Communications Manager to craft newsletters, impact stories, internal/external messaging.

Create and post content across social media and print/email platforms, ensuring consistent messaging.

Support fundraising campaigns with persuasive copy and visuals aligned with mission and values; assist with events.

Digital & Web Presence

Maintain and update website content (programs, donation pages, events).

Ensure site is mobile-optimized, user-friendly, and consistent with branding; provide technical support as needed.

Social Media & Outreach

Create and schedule posts across Consortium channels to meet engagement goals.

Collaborate on creation of mission-aligned graphics, posts, and videos.

Track engagement/insights to enhance reach and performance.

Development & Donor Engagement

Collaborate with the Director of Development on acknowledgments, appeals, thank you letters, and donor/sponsor communications.

Event Coordination & Support

Assist with planning/executing donor cultivation and community events.

Develop event materials (invitations, signage, programs) and coordinate RSVPs.

Support logistics with staff and vendors.

Cross-Program Collaboration

Work with program staff to source stories, organizational culture, and impact data.

Contribute to a collaborative, team-driven environment.

Requirements:

Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills tailored to diverse audiences.

Proficiency with web platforms (WordPress, Squarespace, Blue Host; basic HTML/CSS a plus).

Experience with social media management tools (Buffer, Hootsuite, Meta Business Suite).

Familiarity with donor databases (Little Green Light, Bloomerang, Salesforce NPSP).

Demonstrated commitment to social justice, equity, and belonging.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Event coordination experience.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications:

2–4 years’ experience in nonprofit communications, development, and/or marketing.

Commitment to community-centered engagement that values lived experience.

Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, or related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Skills and abilities will be considered more critical than a degree.
