Key Responsibilities
Trend Identification & Monitoring
Actively scroll TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts daily to spot emerging trends, viral sounds, formats, memes, editing styles, and challenges.
Track what’s gaining momentum within general Gen Z culture.
Evaluate which trends are early-stage, peak, or declining.
Platform Research & Insights
Stay informed on updates to TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube’s algorithms and features.
Identify what content types perform best on each platform for specific audiences.
Monitor competitors, influencers, and relevant creators to identify successful patterns.
Content Inspiration & Curation
Save, compile, and categorize relevant videos, audio tracks, hooks, caption examples, and creative formats.
Create trend boards for the content team upon request.
Suggest content angles (strongly preferred).
SEO & Discoverability Research
Research top-performing keywords, hashtags, and search behaviors on TikTok and IG.
Recommend SEO-optimized trends that increase discoverability.
Document how creators are using keywords in captions, on-screen text, or hooks.
Audience Behavior Tracking
Analyze what Gen Z audiences are engaging with in real time.
Observe tone, humor style, pacing, and storytelling formats that resonate.
Identify shifts in audience mood or cultural moments quickly.
Report Creation & Communication
Produce daily trend reports summarizing what’s trending, why it’s trending, how it can be adapted, and recommend concepts.
Communicate findings with Content Creators and Creative Director.
Creative Support
Suggest hooks, concepts, or angles based on the discovered trends.
Recommend sound/music choices and timing and locations.
Provide creators with examples to replicate tone and pacing.
Requirements
At least 2 years of proven experience as a Trend Researcher, Social Media Scroller or Viral Content Researcher with a proven track record.
Strong knowledge of TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and other social-first platforms.
Ability to quickly identify and adapt to trends and platform changes.
Excellent grasp of Gen Z tone and culture.
Experience in SEO for TikTok and Instagram Reels to optimize content for discoverability and search.
Strong attention to details.
Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, creative environment with tight deadlines.
