POSITION SUMMARY
The Communications Coordinator supports the mission of Children’s Health Foundation by creating compelling visual and written communications across print and digital platforms. This position plays a key role in shaping the Foundation’s brand through graphic design, content creation, and support of organizational communications needs. The ideal candidate is a creative, detail-oriented designer with strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced nonprofit environment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Coordinate with all staff on communications needs. Serve as backup for all communications. Other duties may be assigned by the Chief Executive Officer/Chief Operations Officer/Chief Development Officer.
GRAPHIC DESIGN & PRINTED MATERIALS
Manage written and printed materials, with approval of Executive Team
Proof and edit documents of all degrees of complexity with speed and accuracy
Distribute updates for Physician Information Sheet and Endowed Chair Poster, QuickList, Board Materials
Adhere to routing and proofing schedule; develop new schedules as needed
Coordinate planned giving material and corresponding electronic and accounting’s mailing needs
Edit, Proof, Edit, Proof
Design selected creative materials
Design and print banners, signs and other marketing materials
Coordinate printing either in-house or outsourced for major creative pieces
Responsible for designing Miracles in Motion Magazine, invitations, Save the Dates, Programs & all other graphic materials for all events
Review content, design and printing for letterhead, business cards, envelopes, CMNH pledge cards and Holiday card, CMNH Calendar and various CMNH materials (review printing schedule)
Create engaging graphics, visual layouts, and visual storytelling elements for social media channels.
Assist with social media planning, content development, and scheduling as needed.
Support updates and design improvements for the Foundation’s website, ensuring a cohesive and user-friendly visual experience.
COMMUNICATIONS & ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT
Collaborate with the communications director and executive team to support campaigns, events, and special initiatives.
Participate in planning meetings to provide creative input and communications support.
Assist in writing, editing, and proofreading content when needed.
EXPECTATION OF EMPLOYEE
High comfort level with meeting upper level management in a professional manner
Strong vocabulary, oral communication skills and exceptional writing talent
The ability to organize complex information into logical and readable communications
Well-developed organization skills and ability to meet simultaneous deadlines
Communicate regularly with all staff regarding communications needs
Attend Evening and Weekend events and meetings/Travel statewide for various events
Review Office Calendar daily and perform duties as workload necessitates
Communicate regularly with supervisor about department/organization issues
Present monthly and annual reports to Chief Executive Officer
Periodically, with supervisor, evaluate effectiveness of actions taken
Route proofs to designated staff, final proof to Chief Executive Officer
Adhere to Policy and Procedures; Act as a role model internally and externally
Maintains a positive and respectful attitude; Be responsive and provide assistance to staff and clients
Demonstrate flexible and efficient time management and ability to prioritize work load
Consistently report to work on-time prepared to perform duties of position
Meet deadlines and adhere to publication schedules
Participate in staff meetings, sharing positive, productive ideas to accomplish goals
Type, photocopy, and disseminate own correspondence with minimal staff assistance
Ability to coordinate activities of others. Willingness to be part of an existing, successful team.
Review and Understand office policies and dress code.
Any visible tattoos must be tasteful and appropriate when in the office. All tattoos, without exception, must be covered when meeting with clients. Absolutely no neck or face tattoos allowed. Earrings are limited to one piercing per ear lobe. Gauges are not allowed. No other body piercings may be displayed with jewelry.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:
Bachelor’s degree in communications, graphic design, marketing, or related field; or equivalent professional experience.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) and other relevant design tools.
Strong understanding of layout, typography, and visual communication principles.
Experience designing for both print and digital platforms.
Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
Familiarity with social media platforms and basic website content management systems.
Nonprofit or health-related experience a plus, but not required.

WORK CONDITIONS
Work is primarily indoors, but requires employee to be in an outdoor environment when traveling between campus buildings or off campus.
Employee will be exposed to frequent noise caused by office conversation, telephones and office machines.
Standard office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. There are no compensatory time provisions for exempt positions, and employees are to be available as needed to complete their work. Pre-approved (by Chief Executive Officer) courtesy scheduling may be arranged on a limited basis.
Attendance at evening and week-end events is required.
Off-campus, state and regional travel is required.
Must have a reliable vehicle for transportation.
Employee must have a cellular device with a data plan.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to lift and carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 40 pounds (40 lbs. Is the weight of a box of copy paper).
Must be able to bend, stoop and reach.
Manual dexterity to efficiently operate a computer keyboard and other business machines.
Near vision sufficient to read written communications and computer display screens.
Adequate hearing to communicate effectively in person and by phone.
