Position Summary

The Design Drafting Lead will implement and administer our CAD, EDMS, and BIM systems in support of the Data Center Design and Development group. This position will oversee all aspects of CAD design, ensuring that workflows are optimized, drawings and models meet the highest quality standards, and the team operates efficiently within a multidisciplinary engineering environment. The Design Drafting Lead will establish and enforce best practices, design standards, and project coordination strategies to enhance productivity and collaboration between mechanical, electrical, and other engineering disciplines.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Establish and enforce BIM & CAD standards, templates, and best practices to maintain uniformity and accuracy across all design files.

Lead, mentor, and oversee the design drafting team, ensuring the team is equipped with the necessary tools, training, and support to produce high‑quality BIM & CAD models and drawings.

Develop and implement efficient BIM & CAD workflows, ensuring seamless integration between mechanical and electrical design disciplines.

Collaborate with project managers and engineering leads to establish priorities, allocate resources, and maintain adherence to project timelines and budgets.

Conduct regular design reviews to verify that models and drawings adhere to company guidelines, industry standards, and project‑specific requirements.

Oversee the selection, implementation, and maintenance of CAD software and related technologies.

Provide guidance on software updates, licensing, and integration with other engineering systems such as BIM, PLM, or GIS platforms.

Work closely with engineering teams to ensure smooth coordination between design elements, facilitating cross‑functional discussions to resolve design conflicts and improve overall project efficiency.

Administer Engineering Document Management system to ensure proper file management, version control, and documentation processes within the BIM & CAD environment.

Organize training programs and professional development opportunities to enhance team members' technical skills and familiarity with the latest BIM & CAD tools and industry trends.

Other Requirements

Minimum of 10 years of experience in design, preferably in the energy or EPC environment with at least 3-5 years in a CAD Administrator role.

Proficiency in industry‑standard CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit)

Familiarity with mechanical systems in power plants or industrial facilities.

Experience working in a multidisciplinary environment; Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail; Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Experience creating As‑Built drawings and performing facility walk‑downs.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.

Willing and able (with or without reasonable accommodation) to travel to various field locations up to 25% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with implementation and administration of EDMS and BIM systems.

Experience with PROCORE

Experience with other simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, RISA, TriFLEX)
