CAD Operator - Transportation Design

Responsibilities
ECS is hiring an experienced
CAD Drafter / CAD Operator
to support our special projects group which consists of geotechnical and transportation design teams across multiple offices in North Carolina. This role plays a critical part in delivering high-impact infrastructure projects including
highways, bridges, retaining walls, deep foundations, and slope stabilization systems .
Ideal candidates will be proficient with
MicroStation ,
OpenRoads , and
Bentley CAD software , and have direct experience supporting
design-build
transportation projects.
Key Responsibilities
Create, modify, and maintain geotechnical design drawings using
MicroStation ,
OpenRoads , and related Bentley software
Draft and document key geotechnical features:
piling systems, drilling layouts, shallow/deep foundations, embankments, retaining walls, and slope protection elements
Prepare and format technical documentation and digital figures for
NCDOT
and transportation agency submissions
Collaborate closely with
geotechnical engineers, civil engineers, and transportation project teams
to convert design concepts into construction-ready plans
Ensure all drawings adhere to project standards and CAD quality guidelines
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in a CAD drafting role supporting civil or geotechnical engineering projects
Experience working on
NCDOT
or other DOT-related projects
Proficient in MicroStation and/or OpenRoads
Strong understanding of geotechnical design principles and CAD modeling of subsurface features
Familiarity with transportation design-build workflows and deliverables
Preferred Qualifications
Expert Level proficiency in Bentley CAD software and digital project file organization
Previous involvement in large-scale transportation infrastructure or roadway projects
Ability to work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary design teams
