Role Overview We are seeking a dynamic and experienced senior managing editor to join our team and oversee strategic operations and growth of the Formedics oncology brands: Blood Cancers Today, Breast Cancers Today, Cancer Nursing Today, GI Oncology Now, GU Oncology Now and Lung Cancers Today. A senior managing editor is a senior role responsible for the overall content strategy for the publications under their remit. A senior managing editor knows how to strategize across teams and report to stakeholders, while effectively managing content production by managing editors, junior editors and outside contributors. This role will have direct reports. Key Responsibilities Lead Operations and Growth Oversee the content planning and distribution for digital and print initiatives of the Formedics oncology brands, including website, social media, e‑newsletters and print materials, ensuring editorial quality and consistency across brands. Support managing editors in developing editorial calendars, recruiting external contributors, including HCPs, and executing deliverables for sponsored programs. Oversee the editorial budgets for oncology brands, advising managing editors on resource allocation and forecasting estimated spending during budget reviews. Manage the editorial review process across organic and sponsored oncology products, including email newsletters, providing approval for creative and editorial assets. Represent the Formedics oncology brands in person at major industry meetings and conferences. Collaborate closely with the executive editor to develop a strategic vision for all oncology brands, aligning editorial strategies with company goals and audience needs. Direct oncology team performance, including proactive content planning, execution on sponsored deliverables, and opportunities for process improvement, and report on outcomes. Actively engage and interface with HCP partners on editorial contributions, as needed. Partner with key internal stakeholders, including sales, projects and production teams, to satisfy client campaigns while maintaining editorial integrity. Adhere to standard editorial operating procedures and contribute to the development of team best practices. Provide guidance and mentorship to managing editors, offering support in their professional development. Advise editorial team members on tactics to enhance content quality for an HCP audience. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or English (preferred) OR Degree in Medicine, Public Health, or a Science‑related field (especially for technical medical news) Experience in medical journalism, editing, or publishing (at least 7 years preferred) Experience in managing an editorial team with direct reports Skills & Knowledge Strong writing & editing skills (AP style, AMA style, or scientific writing preferred) Understanding of medical and scientific terminology Ability to interpret and summarize complex medical studies Fact‑checking & research skills (ensuring accuracy in reporting) SEO & digital publishing knowledge (for online platforms) Familiarity with peer‑reviewed journals and regulatory agencies (e.g., FDA, WHO, CDC) Access to NJ‑based office Company‑sponsored events 401(k) program Medical benefits including Dental and Vision Life insurance Paid time off Training and development programs We do not discriminate based on race, religion, color, national origin, gender (including pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions), sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, age, status as a protected veteran, status as an individual with a disability, or other applicable legally protected characteristics. #J-18808-Ljbffr
