Benthic is looking to add a qualified Designer/Drafter to the team in Houston. Benthic operates their equipment offshore in support of various oil and gas, and renewable energy site developments, and the purpose of this role is to work within the Benthic Engineering team to design and document new and existing Remote Operated Seabed Drill technology and provide support for the engineers. The role includes CAD and drawing creation for deck layouts, sea fastening drawings, mechanical parts, assemblies, electrical enclosures, and schematics both mechanical and electrical. The role will utilize Solidworks, PDM, and Autocad to create and revise engineering documents to the requirements of the Benthic Business Management System. This position will work with various engineers, project managers, and business development specialists, both in-person and digitally. Duties Input into the design and development of any equipment related to the activities of the company Preparation of engineering drawings and technical specifications Develop a project specification with colleagues, often including those from other engineering disciplines Discuss and solve engineering problems Consider the implications of issues such as cost, safety and time constraints Keep up to date with new equipment and developments in technology Active participation in workshop safety & toolbox meetings Report all hazards and unsafe acts Ensure documentation is approved by correct persons Compliance with document control procedures Comply with work instructions Maintain the security of the company’s designs, drawings, and documents’ register database Create and compile technical drawings and technical documentation reflecting the design and as‑built configuration of the Company’s assets Establish and monitor compliance with any appropriate engineering standards Required At least 5 years of Designer or Technician work experience Experience designing mechanical/electromechanical/hydraulic systems is required Demonstrated knowledge of API, ASME, SAE, ISO, DNV, ABS and other applicable codes and standards is preferred Solidworks Master Certificate, a plus PDM administration experience/certification, a plus Trained in ASME Y14, a plus Basic skill of hand i.e. competence in the use of hand tools is a necessity (relating to how parts are designed and used) Advanced skill in engineering drawing software packages – Solidworks and Autocad (i.e. template creation, advanced assembly and modeling techniques Competence in manufacturing processes (milling, turning, welding, etc.) is a necessity Demonstrated competence in engineering drawing creation/revision is required Basic mechanical and hydraulic assembly skills is a plus Basic knowledge of rigging and lifting systems is a plus This position may offer some travel (domestic and international) A valid Passport preferred for this position #J-18808-Ljbffr
