Civil Design Engineer Land Development
Location: Evans City, PA
About the Role
A growing civil engineering and land development firm is seeking a motivated Junior Civil Design Engineer to join its team. The firm partners with leading residential, commercial, industrial, and subdivision developers across Western Pennsylvania and offers a full suite of services, including engineering, construction support, permitting, financial expertise, and legal resources. This role is ideal for a self-starting engineer who wants hands-on experience designing large subdivisions and site development projects.
What Youll Do
- Assist with property analysis, zoning/ordinance review, and conceptual layouts.
- Conduct field investigations and support environmental assessments.
- Develop preliminary roadway and grading designs using AutoCAD/Civil 3D.
- Prepare stormwater management, utility design, and erosion & sedimentation control plans.
- Assemble and submit permit packages for local, state, and federal agencies (NPDES, DEP, PennDOT, COE, wetlands, floodplain, etc.).
- Support preparation of Conditional Use, Variance, and Rezoning applications.
- Prepare project cost estimates and technical presentations for public meetings.
- Provide direction and technical input to CAD designers/drafters.
What Were Looking For
- PA EIT certification (or ability to obtain within 1 year).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD/Civil 3D.
- Strong communication skills; public meeting experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with Hydraflow, HY-8, StreamStats, HEC-RAS, or PennDOT design standards preferred.
- Knowledge of PA DEP development regulations is helpful.
