Creative Director, Originals Marketing
The Creative Director, Originals Marketing is a culturally fluent, big‑idea‑driven creative leader responsible for shaping the creative vision for HBO and Max Originals marketing campaigns. This role goes beyond asset creation – it is about telling stories around our greatest content, shaping how our Originals show up in the world, and leveraging our IP to break through the noise and spark conversation.
Your Role & Responsibilities
Oversee and execute best‑in‑class creative content for HBO and Max Originals marketing campaigns from inception through delivery.
Craft the overarching 360° campaign creative strategy (in collaboration with strategic partners), interpreting strategy and audience insights to align with content and storytelling, delivering fresh and premium creative materials that ladder up to a broader campaign vision and can be applied across all consumer touchpoints.
Deliver big ideas that breakthrough in a cluttered, competitive consumer landscape; take bold swings with unique and memorable creative grounded in strategy and insights.
Lead a creative team that contributes to best‑in‑class execution in a collaborative and nimble environment, empowering team members to take ownership and contribute to overarching plans.
Manage the creative process end‑to‑end (on‑set content ideation and capture, marketing shoots, key art, AV, digital, social) with internal partners and/or external agencies.
Work with external agencies to lead the art direction and development of a cohesive key art suite – from early concepting to final delivery.
Oversee multiple complex projects while identifying, communicating, and driving forward clear next steps.
Lead the development and execution of social/editorial creative stunts that drive conversation, shareability, and talent/press amplification.
Collaborate with international marketing teams to adapt global creative strategies into culturally resonant, locally impactful campaigns.
Analyze performance analytics to make informed creative decisions and audience pivots.
Manage, communicate, and persuade talent and stakeholders (showrunners, filmmakers, producers, actors).
Partner closely with strategy, programming/content, growth marketing, product marketing, media planning, editorial merchandising, PR, and other cross‑divisional teams to lead multiple concurrent campaigns.
Track creative budgets across multiple campaigns, ensuring efficient resource allocation.
Qualifications & Experience
At least 8 years of creative experience in the entertainment or creative advertising industry executing marketing campaigns, and at least 3 years of experience managing a team.
Develop a positive culture that instills empathy and fosters inclusion.
Possess a sincere love for streaming entertainment, television, movies, and storytelling.
Demonstrate an ability to lead highly creative campaigns, meeting a high bar of quality content creation.
Proven ability to art‑direct and guide designers/agency partners, with a strong understanding of composition, typography, photography, and visual storytelling.
Direct, coach, and mentor team members on how to successfully execute a campaign and navigate the complexities with key stakeholders, deadlines, and business priorities.
Excel at pitching creative and persuasive communication.
Oversee the development of multiple team members – motivate effectively, prioritize work, define clear expectations, and give constructive and actionable feedback for development.
Exercise good creative judgment and understand how to balance what is best for the team, campaign, and the business overall.
Under‑stand the current dynamic entertainment and streaming landscape, competitive creative campaigns and consumer trends, and shifts in our business needs.
Build and maintain strong and collaborative relationships across the enterprise organization, including effective communication skills and conflict resolution.

Compensation & Benefits Pay range: $154,000.00 – $286,000.00 per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short‑ and long‑term incentives, and program‑specific awards.
