Overview
The Mechanical Designer-Piping SR 3 position requires 20+ years of related experience. Responsibilities
Provide 3D piping/equipment designs for retrofit, environmental and new generation projects; produce 2D orthographic and isometric drawings, P&IDs, pipe support designs and 3D models; work with engineers and other designers of various disciplines to ensure safe, effective and efficient designs; apply applicable codes and standards in work situations; gather field data to support development of deliverables; prepare material take-offs; size and select piping components; lead multi-discipline technical teams on a project; review and develop general arrangements. Demonstrate skillsets and expertise in mechanical piping systems design related to new construction and/or retrofit of power generation facilities (or other similar heavy industrial facilities); proficient in using 3D modeling tools for piping system layout and designs. Experience with AutoPIPE and/or AVEVA design tools is desired; experience producing 2D orthographic and isometric drawings, P&IDs, pipe supports and 3D piping and equipment models; experience checking design drawings and documents; experience preparing material take-offs; strong technical background in basic piping construction techniques, practices and concepts; pipe/material and valve selection knowledge; ability to work efficiently on multi-concurrent large projects with minimal instruction and guidance; self-motivated and a good team player; strong organizational skills; experience with construction support; experience with reviewing and developing general arrangements; ability to build effective relationships with plant staff, design engineering staff and/or vendors.
