Responsibilities As a Plumbing or Piping Designer at J. F. Ahern, you’ll design and model complex systems—either plumbing or piping—based on provided specifications and ensure all associated drawings, calculations, and material lists are accurate and complete. Your work sets the foundation for project execution, enabling field and shop teams to deliver with optimal productivity and efficiency. You’ll collaborate with project teams to coordinate comprehensive systems of varying size and scope, operating independently in a fast‑paced environment to meet deadlines and maintain quality.
Qualifications
Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Design, Civil Engineering, Computer‑Aided Drafting/Design, or a related field.
Proficiency in recent versions of Revit, Navisworks, and Autodesk Construction Cloud.
Equivalent field experience managing large commercial or industrial construction projects that involve fabrication and coordination responsibilities.
Strong understanding of building construction, blue‑print reading, solid math and problem‑solving skills.
Ability to manage design schedules and lead coordination efforts.
Plumbing designers: working knowledge of Wisconsin Plumbing Code.
Piping designers: experience with steam and hydronic systems.
