DESCRIPTION
Working closely with HTV's Design Manager, the position is responsible for the creation of custom station elements, as well as mentoring a team of graphic artists in the production of news, promotion/marketing, sales, and digital graphics that are shared across 27 HTV markets. The position reports to HTV's Design Manager.
Job Responsibilities
Develop custom graphics for local HTV markets that complement HTV station brands and HTV products shared by the group
Develop motion, digital, and print designs for our stations, brands, and digital products
Work with Design Manager to oversee the implementation of templates and motion toolkits
Assist in cataloging all existing branded collateral materials at local stations (trucks, exterior building signage, interior signage including sets, etc.); assist in the creation of company-wide design templates for use by local stations
Requirements
Experience designing on‑air television news, marketing, and digital graphics packages
Experience working in a collaborative environment with a team of graphic artists and collaborating with news managers and creative managers on contemporary presentations, and an understanding of how graphics drive storytelling and marketing
Proficient in all Adobe Creative Suite programs, Cinema 4D, and Vizrt
Must have extensive television production background with a clear understanding of the integration of design, editorial, and production processes
Ability to produce high-quality results within the parameters of technological infrastructure and Hearst style guide
Experience in print design
Extraordinary visualization, conceptualization, and motion design skills with a strong background in typography, color theory, photography, design layout, and 2D and 3D animation. Portfolio work should demonstrate knowledge of current industry trends and techniques
Can articulate design rationale and be comfortable explaining and answering questions about design concepts to both designers and editorial management
Can identify and nurture talent
Can coordinate and direct projects involving a team of designers
Strong communication and organization skills
Can motivate the graphics team to consistently deliver an innovative product
Can articulate, promote, and advance a centralized graphics agenda to the Orlando‑based graphics team and stations and brands
Comprehensive firsthand knowledge of on‑air, print, and digital graphics importance and functionality combined
