Director, Public Relations and Communications Saint Peter’s University is inviting applications for the Director, Public Relations and Communications role. This position reports to the Assistant Vice President for Communications & Marketing and is responsible for managing press release content, media relations, crisis communications, and internal/external messaging. About Saint Peter’s University Saint Peter’s is one of 27 Jesuit colleges and universities in the U.S., founded in 1872, offering more than 50 undergraduate majors, master’s and doctorate programs. The university emphasizes rigorous academics, internships, community service, and lasting alumni support. Job Responsibilities Build and maintain press lists and cultivate relationships with local and national media. Draft press materials including announcements, university news, employee profiles, interviews, etc. Edit and proofread university materials in partnership with the communications team. Field media requests and coordinate with appropriate departments, including legal review. Track and analyze university press coverage and provide monthly reports. Stay current on industry trends, competitive marketplace, and relevant news. Liaise with all departments to ensure communications are on‑brand, strategic, and consistent. Collaborate with the agency partner and Advancement team on the university magazine project management and editing. Develop and send a weekly email to the university community highlighting events and updates tailored to students, faculty, and staff. Activate crisis communications plan in partnership with the AVP of Communications & Marketing and key stakeholders. Perform other duties as assigned. Key Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, or related field. 2–4 years of relevant experience in communications; higher education and branding/marketing experience preferred. Superior written, verbal, and editing skills. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team. Experience with email distribution systems such as Constant Contact. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite. Salary Range $75,000 - $80,000 Benefits Paid Time Off: holidays, personal days, vacation, and sick leave.
