Job Overview

Grey Matter Concepts is a Woman Owned Company with a highly supportive, flexible, and rewarding culture. We are seeking a SLEEPWEAR/LOUNGE designer to join our highly creative and passionate team.

Under the direction of the Vice President of Design, you as a designer will be responsible for creating, executing original, sustainable, trend‑appropriate design concepts to drive sales while ensuring a timely execution of each stage of the process. Your passion should translate into designs that are on trend, innovative, evoke interest, and market appropriate. This role would be a perfect fit if you are efficient, solution driven and have an all‑hands‑on deck approach.

Job Responsibilities

  • Creative, Research trends, new techniques, fabrications, and resources
  • knowledge of knitted & woven fabrics and garment construction
  • Design brand‑appropriate sleep, lounge and base layer that can complement well with the intimates and sock collection
  • Collaborate with the underwear and sock designer and brainstorm new ideas in a cohesive manner
  • Work with tech design to ensure integrity of design comes to fruition
  • Brainstorm and partner with packaging designer on new concepts to elevate categories
  • Create line sheets and ensure the tech packs are updated
  • Innovate and partner with production team on new trim and fabric development
  • Direct fitting from the first prototype to samples ensuring design aesthetics and overall garment fit and quality.
  • Ensure calendar is met
  • Work with sourcing team to executive high‑quality product within calendar timelines
  • Follow up on all pre‑production details; color, fabric, trim to ensure consistency
  • Be able to confidently present design ideas to small and larger groups
  • Be an inspiring, energy‑giving member of the ream. Be positive. Be proactive

Skills

  • 3+ years of design background with experience in lounge/sleep/base layer
  • Knowledge in apparel design, knits and woven
  • Adobe Illustrator CAD‑Ing skill is a must
  • Detail oriented and organized
  • Incredibly creative and innovative with strong knowledge of the intimates & lounge market
  • Great communication and presentation skills.
  • A team player who contributes positivity to the team
