Position Title: Public Relations - Adjunct (Faculty/Teaching/Research)
Position Summary The Communication Arts Department at California Baptist University seeks qualified individuals for its Public Relations Program part-time adjunct pool. The specific courses involved will vary from semester to semester; openings to teach these courses develop on a periodic basis depending on department teaching needs.
All classes are held in person at California Baptist University’s main campus.
The anticipated need is for adjunct faculty to teach undergraduate courses in Public Relations that may include Introduction to Public Relations, Crisis Communications, Public Relations, Public Relations Business Literacy, Social Media Strategies, Public Relations Writing, Strategic Event Planning, and Public Relations Leadership and Advanced Campaign Design courses, as well as courses across related disciplines.
Teaching Responsibilities Teach undergraduate courses in Public Relations covering the subjects outlined above during the academic semester.
Qualifications Required Qualifications
Knowledge of principles, methods, and current developments in the field of study.
Knowledge of subject matter and course content taught.
Knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques.
Demonstrated ability to support, instruct, manage, motivate and evaluate students.
Skilled in the use of computers, Internet resources, and MS Office software.
Ability to learn relevant sections of Blackboard, California Baptist University’s online integrated database system for student grading.
Ability to integrate technology into the teaching and learning process.
Ability to successfully interact with students, other educators and educational institution representatives, and the general public in a professional manner.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies.
Required Education
Master’s degree in appropriate field or bachelor’s degree and significant professional public relations experience required.
Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) preferred.
Required Experience
Higher education teaching experience preferred.
