Overview
Amherst is seeking a
Marketing Automation Lead
to design, execute, and optimize automated marketing programs across email, mobile, and onsite channels via Marketing Cloud Engagement. This role will own the end-to-end management of marketing automation systems, ensuring that campaigns are personalized, data-driven, and scalable—nurturing prospects and residents from lead generation through renewal.
Responsibilities
Marketing Automation Strategy: Define and lead the strategy for automation programs that onboard, nurture, convert, and drive resident loyalty/advocacy. Partner with Growth Marketing and internal stakeholders to translate business requirements into actionable journeys and automations.
Audience Management & Segmentation: Oversee audience segmentation strategies using lifecycle stage, behavioral signals, and geographic insights. Partner with Brand Marketing to customize creative and messaging for segment-specific campaigns that drive measurable action.
Testing, Reporting & Technical Execution: Manage A/B and multivariate testing to optimize engagement, conversion, and deliverability. Ensure rigorous QA for email rendering, deliverability, and automation workflows. Own reporting on campaign and journey performance, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement. Maintain compliance with CAN-SPAM, GDPR, and opt-in regulations; enforce list hygiene best practices.
Qualifications
Strong understanding of lifecycle marketing, personalization, and customer journey orchestration.
Strong proficiency in AMPSCRIPT and SQL
Expert in email deliverability, segmentation, and testing methodologies.
Strong analytical skills with experience in campaign reporting, dashboards, and KPIs.
Ability to work cross-functionally and translate business goals into automation strategies.
Knowledge of HTML/CSS for email and experience with CRM/data integrations preferred.
Experience with MJML is a plus
5+ years of hands-on experience in Salesforce Marketing Cloud
