St. Mary Mercy Hospital is a 304‑bed acute care hospital located in Livonia, MI that provides comprehensive care including a 24‑hour emergency department, general medicine, inpatient and outpatient surgery, physical medicine and rehabilitation, intensive care unit, cancer, cardiology, geriatrics and birthing and women’s health. Position Purpose Perform routine, intermediate, and advanced level polysomnographic and electroencephalographic testing. Provide technical analysis of subsequent data. Ascertain the status of assigned work and reports. Assist with training of personnel. Assure general maintenance of all EEG and related equipment. Assume responsibility of documentation of all parameters of the diagnostic tests for interpretation. Perform routine, awake, drowsy, and sleep recordings. Independently performs sleep induced and sleep deprived studies. Performs cerebral silence (brain death) recordings per established protocol. Performs other CVS, NICV testing per cross‑trained competency level. 12‑lead electrocardiogram. Holter hook‑up.
Required Education, Experience and Certification/License
Basic and advanced level polysomnographic and EEG courses with additional experience after advanced training or certification as a registered electroencephographic, polysomnographic technologist or related field.
2 ½ years in an electroneurodiagnostics lab or Sleep Disorder Unit with relevant training.
Experience with various equipment including analog and digital. Must be able to identify abnormal morphology and respond appropriately (seizures, etc).
Expert knowledge with EEG lab equipment, its operation and application.
Knowledgeable of various electroneurological disorders and their treatments.
Proficient in application of 10/20 system.
Knowledge of basic body mechanics and the ability to perform CPR.
Basic understanding of 12 and 15‑lead EKG; ability to independently utilize the MUSE system including edit, retrieve, print, download orders/results. Identify life‑threatening arrhythmias and abnormal waveform morphology.
