About The Role We’re looking for a Design Operations Manager / Senior Designer who is equal parts creative and operational — someone who thrives in a design environment but finds satisfaction in keeping things running seamlessly. This person will work directly with the principal designer to bring design visions to life, create organization from chaos, and ensure projects stay seamlessly on track. You’ll manage everything from drawings and renderings to proposals, invoicing, and schedules — helping transform a boutique creative practice into a well-run studio.
Responsibilities
Draft furniture plans, elevations, and design drawings in AutoCAD (Revit or SketchUp a plus)
Create and edit design presentations and mood boards in Google Slides
Develop and maintain FF&E schedules and specifications
Produce tear sheets and coordinate finish schedules
Oversee renderings and presentation materials for client meetings
Build and maintain project schedules and timelines
Manage proposals and invoicing through Studio Designer (in collaboration with bookkeeper)
Track orders, lead times, and deliveries; liaise with vendors and receivers
Implement systems for project tracking, naming conventions, and documentation
Prepare weekly project status updates for internal and client meetings
Create templates and workflows for consistency across projects
Maintain vendor and trades databases
Manage sample requests, returns, and material library
Support the principal with client communications, meeting prep, and site visit coordination
Job Requirements (Qualifications)
4–8 years of professional interior design experience (residential preferred)
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Studio Designer, and Google Workspace
Strong sense of design aesthetics and technical accuracy
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Enjoys building structure, solving problems, and taking ownership
Calm, proactive, and flexible — thrives supporting a creative lead
Personality Fit
You love making creative studios run smoothly.
You’re energized by bringing clarity and systems to a visionary but fast-moving environment.
You’re patient, resourceful, and solutions-oriented — the kind of person who naturally says, “I’ve got this.”
You appreciate great design and enjoy being close to the creative process while keeping the details on track.
Compensation & Details
$60,000–$95,000 depending on experience and role structure
Hybrid setup (some days remote, occasional in-person meetings or site visits on the Upper East Side)
Potential for growth as the studio expands

Your resume
A short note describing why you’re drawn to this type of role and environment
Optional: design samples or presentation work
