We provide custom Audio Visual and automation solutions for homes and businesses, including design, integration and installation of home theaters, home automation, security and surveillance, home networking and WiFi, and commercial audio, video, conferencing, and surveillance installations.
Position Overview
Our DAVE division is seeking to hire an AV Installer to join our Rochester, NY branch. As an installer and service technician, you will work in customers' homes and businesses to install, integrate, and deploy the latest in A/V and automation technology. Entry-level cable technicians looking to move into the more technical aspects of communication technologies are encouraged to apply.
We are looking for high performers who are forward-looking, innovative, enthusiastic, and ambitious team players. Qualified candidates will be motivated self-starters with superb judgment and communication skills, a commitment to excellence and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
The compensation range for this position is $20-$35/hr. depending on experience and technical capabilities.
Responsibilities
Installation of audio/visual and automation system solutions per statement of work (Video/TV solutions, audio solutions, basic networking, and automation equipment in residential and commercial locations)
Running of low voltage wiring both during construction (pre-wiring) and after construction (retrofit)
Troubleshooting of audio, visual, and automation equipment and control systems
Identify and escalate business and technical opportunities as appropriate
Networking on job-sites with other subcontractors to build solid relationships with other trades
Provide customer-facing end-user training
Participate in frequent internal meetings with colleagues, team members, and manager
Maintain a high level of professionalism with customers, team members, other on-site trades, and staff
Attend all appointments on-time with focus on providing quality client service
Submit detailed records in a timely manner (time sheets, tickets, reports, etc.)
Perform all responsibilities in alignment with the core values of the Company
What a typical work week looks like: Monday (installing TVs in a sports bar), Tuesday (pre-wiring residential homes under construction), Wednesday (installing a video conference system in a corporate office), Thursday (installing a surveillance or alarm system), Friday (small service calls and troubleshooting). Priorities can shift; flexibility and the ability to adjust on the fly are required. When the system installation is complete, you will train the client on how to use their system.
Customer service and support are top priorities. You will be expected to be patient, kind, friendly, and respectful to clients and help ensure they are excited and happy with their new purchase.
Requirements
Qualifications:
At least 1 year of professional experience in electronics installation, alarm technician, cable/satellite installation, electrician, or other construction or related trade
Hands-on knowledge and experience in residential systems integration including audio/video, automation and residential control systems, basic alarm systems and wiring, shading and window treatments, and residential IT/Networking
Proficient with cable pulling, audio, video, control, and network terminations in both new construction and retrofit applications
Knowledge of basic framing and construction, power, and electrical concepts
Proper hand and power tool operations and safety
Excellent customer service skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Resourceful and able to work through challenges that arise throughout the day
Attention to detail and pride in your work
Aim to achieve 100% client satisfaction
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience programming A/V, lighting control and other types of automation systems is a plus, but not required
A/V industry certification is a plus
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
Work on-site at customer locations the majority of the time with travel throughout the geographical footprint; off-hour work/overnight travel may be required
Ability to climb ladders and scaffolding, work at heights, and carry items of 50 pounds or more
