Responsibilities
Design and model custom mechanical components and assemblies tailored to force and weight measurement systems.
Perform tolerance stack-ups, design validation, and simulation studies using SolidWorks Simulation.
Create and maintain engineering drawings, 3D models, part numbers, and full design documentation for production and customer delivery.
Manage Bills of Materials (BOMs), ensuring accuracy and traceability.
Oversee file linking, version control, and design documentation best practices using SolidWorks PDM (or equivalent).
Provide technical mentorship, process improvements, and SolidWorks training for the drafting/design team.
Interface with internal stakeholders (machining, quality, program management) and external customers/vendors during design development.
Qualifications
7–10+ years of experience in mechanical design and drafting, particularly in custom mechanical systems.
U.S. Citizenship required due to export control regulations.
Expert proficiency in SolidWorks, including Simulation and PDM tools.
Strong understanding of file structure, data linking, and revision control within CAD systems.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, manufacturing specifications, and customer technical requirements.
Demonstrated experience in generating tight-tolerance drawings for machined components.
Preferred Qualifications
Background in force measurement, load cell design, sensor integration, or machining environments.
Industry exposure to aerospace, defense, or industrial automation sectors.
Prior mentorship or leadership within a technical drafting/design team.
