Part-time Prep Music Teacher (Initially a Fixed-Term Contract)

Part-time Prep Music Teacher (Initial Fixed Term Contract) (Required for January 2026 to 31st August 2026) Days: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (for this academic year, these days are not flexible) Start Date: January 2026 We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Class Teacher to lead music across Nursery to Form 6 in our dynamic Prep School. This part-time role (approx. 8 hours teaching + PPA/admin) includes: Teaching classroom music & choirs (Forms 1–6) Leading co-curricular music: ensemble, theory & aural clubs Supporting performances & events (e.g. Carol Service, Easter Story) Liaising with VMTs, College Music School, parents & arts staff Managing instrumental programmes & music resources Contributing to newsletters, reports, and school events Embracing the High-Performance Learning (HPL) philosophy Strong piano/organ/keyboard skills and a passion for school music are essential The successful candidate will welcome the many opportunities to contribute to the lively extra-curricular life of the College, which is situated in rural East Hertfordshire. St Edmund’s is England's oldest Catholic school offering an all-round co-education for students from 3 to 18 and for families from all faiths. Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is everyone’s responsibility. As with all College staff members, you will therefore be responsible for providing a safe environment in which children can learn. The post will involve close contact with, and a high degree of responsibility for, children and young adults. The majority of this will be regulated activity and as such an enhanced DBS check (which includes children’s barred list information) will be required in advance of appointment.
