Assistant Professor, Theater History and Dramatic Literature
Full-time, 9-month, tenure‑earning position in the Department of Theater, School of Performing Arts (SPA). Location: UCF Main Campus. Anticipated start: August 2026.
Overview of Responsibilities
Teach the two-course Theater History/Dramatic Literature sequence each semester in the undergraduate curriculum.
Deliver additional related undergraduate and graduate courses as assigned.
Mentor student dramaturgs and oversee departmental exit critiques.
Serve on thesis committees.
Collaborate with faculty, staff, students, and UCF partners on projects.
Maintain a strong research/creative profile (presentations, publications, creative practice).
Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D. in theater or performance studies, or DFA in dramaturgy, or MFA in dramaturgy from an accredited institution by time of application.
At least one year of college‑level teaching experience as instructor of record.
Evidence of scholarly activity.
Preferred Qualifications
Additional teaching experience and/or evidence of teaching excellence.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in dramaturgy.
Background in advising and supervising undergraduate and graduate scholarly work including theses, capstones, and terminal projects.
Evidence of scholarship in a specialization area.
Proven ability to teach graduate and undergraduate students.
Commitment to interdisciplinarity.
Experience teaching or creating online courses.
Evidence of commitment to collaboration.
