Join Walmart as a Manager, Apparel Designer – Women's Active, located in New York. This role leads design and development of activewear for women in a high‑volume, consumer‑driven environment.
Base Pay:
$108,000 – $216,000 per year.
Responsibilities:
Be an expert with extensive experience in technical activewear within a successful commercial space.
Strong understanding of the active apparel market and trends.
Demonstrate organization and clear communication to thrive in a high‑paced, multi‑track calendar.
Drive success within a multifaceted organization, ensuring teams are connected and up‑to‑date in product development, fit, merchandising, raw materials, sourcing, color, textures, planning, and product education.
Collaborate, brainstorm, and co‑create concepts, seasonal direction, and design as both a leader and a mentor.
Work with merchants to blend commerciality with innovation, monitoring sell‑through and reacting to market shifts.
Design and execute industry‑leading, highly functional styles that reflect Walmart’s design ethos and meet customer needs.
Demonstrate a sharp understanding of pattern, movement, and technical construction to communicate effectively with fit, product development, factories, and 3D teams.
Attend fittings and participate in construction reviews, considering aesthetics, function, and cost/IMU of garments.
Partner with active cross‑functional teams to share brand visions across mens, womens, kids, and footwear.
Minimum Qualifications:
Option 1: Bachelor’s degree in fashion design, textile design, or related area and 3 years’ experience in apparel design, garment construction, or related area.
Option 2: 5 years’ experience in apparel design, garment construction, or related area.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to present design concepts to internal and external stakeholders.
Experience managing seasonal collections from concept to production.
Strong understanding of fit, construction, and technical specifications.
