Job Description As a
Producer
for NBC'S Nightly News with Tom Llamas, you will work directly with Senior Producers, Correspondents and Associate Producers to create original news content for broadcast and digital platforms.
Responsibilities
Overseeing all aspects of production of Nightly News broadcast pieces including booking, writing, ordering or making graphics, gathering elements, editing, and producing both long‑lead feature stories and day‑of crash pieces.
Must be able to edit pieces completely on their own, and shoot in the field on occasion.
Oversee and manage production team (in‑house and in the field), including working with editors, correspondents, remote desks, field teams, Associate Producers and Production Assistants.
Must be a strong writer who can write scripts for tape pieces and/or anchor intros when needed.
Willingness to collaborate across platforms, working professionally to gather the strongest elements on a deadline.
Pitch and develop original story ideas for the Nightly News.
Book and coordinate guests.
Qualifications
At least 5 years’ editorial experience working in production at the network level, preferably with evening television.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
Strong journalistic writing skills, research skills, and editorial judgment.
Must be able to shoot and edit.
Proficient in social media.
Demonstrated strong knowledge and interest in news and current events.
Must be willing to work overtime, nights, holidays, and weekends, often with short notice.
Must be willing to work in NYC.
Desired Characteristics
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
Ability to multi‑task and prioritize assignments.
Strong storytelling ability.
Additional Responsibilities
Hybrid : This position has been designated as hybrid, which currently requires contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week. Beginning January 5, 2026, hybrid employees will be required to work from the office a minimum of four days per week. The Company reserves the right to change in‑office requirements at any time.
