Job Description
The Segment Producer role at NBC News Now's Top Story with Tom Llamas offers the opportunity to work on breaking news, feature stories, and investigative pieces across both live segments and tape packages on a high-profile primetime newscast.
We're looking for candidates who write compelling copy, have strong editorial depth, creative visual sensibility, and love collaborating on a team. The ideal candidate is capable of producing both live segments and tape packages. For live segments, they will write anchor copy, craft sharp questions, edit video and build graphic elements. For Tape pieces, they'll report out a story, book interviews, clear video, write the script, and edit the piece themselves. Strong writing and editing skills are a must, and shooting skills are also necessary.

Responsibilities
Research, write and produce strong editorial copy with speed and accuracy in a fast-paced environment
Produce live guest segments; write sharp questions and identify the strongest elements/angles
Pitch the most relevant, timely and compelling ideas
Edit their own elements for live segments and edit complete tape packages
Multi-task and juggle producing multiple stories for regular and breaking-news programming
Adhere to NBC editorial standards and practices
Effectively communicate and collaborate with team members, correspondents and anchors.
Qualifications
5+ years experience working in broadcast, streaming or cable news, preferably working on live daily shows
Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of relevant working experience
Excellent writing skills and editorial judgment
Strong advanced package editing skillsShooting skills
Demonstrated history of working well on a team and collaborating with others
Willing/able to work in New York, New York
Additional Requirements
Hybrid:
This position has been designated as hybrid, which currently requires contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week. Beginning January 5, 2026, hybrid employees will be required to work from the office a minimum of four days per week. The Company reserves the right to change in-office requirements at any time.

Salary range $93,000 - $110,000
