Derek Lam 10 Crosby – Associate Technical Designer An Associate Technical Designer will work on women's ready‑to‑wear tech pack building, assist in fittings with live models, garment construction, and sewing specifications.

Responsibilities

Create and update specification tech packs, including detailed technical sketches, graded measurements, and construction details from development through to production.

Ensure all notes are captured during fittings for assigned styles; recapping to cross‑functional teams to confirm clarity.

Effectively communicate with factories to ensure product accuracy.

Collaborate with Design, Sr. Tech Designers, internal Patternmakers, and PD to translate design intent into product technical specifications.

Adhere to the development and production cycles/timelines to ensure all technical deadlines are achieved.

Identify and communicate sample corrections including aesthetics, dimensions, hand feel, functionality, and workmanship.

Execute options, mockups, and advise needed revisions to cross‑functional teams after design review.

Apply grade rules to all sizes; review graded nests from factories to ensure pattern consistency.

Maintain established standards, details, and integrity of the product.

Confirm label and marketing placement instructions for conformance to standards.

Raise issues to managers in a timely manner to identify, resolve, and communicate potential risks.

Ensure packages to send/return samples to factories are prepared, as needed.

Assist Sr. Technical Designers to achieve deadlines.

Requirements and Skill Set

5+ years’ experience in Technical Design.

Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Strong organizational and time‑management skills.

Strong sense of fashion awareness.

Experience in patterning and pattern corrections.

Understanding of garment construction.

Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft programs.

Compensation based on years of experience, range: Starting at $70 k + clothing allowance.
