POSITION OVERVIEW As a

Designer II

at LJA

Land Development , you will be responsible for design work for a project by applying engineering fundamentals under the direct supervision of the Project Engineer/Manager.

A TYPICAL DAY MIGHT INCLUDE

Ability to prepare engineer’s estimate

Understanding of standard construction materials and choosing appropriate specifications

Storm System and Stormwater Management design with ability to apply different criteria

Advanced Grading and Infrastructure Design

Ability to generate dirt calculations considering stripping and compaction factors

Be familiar with Agency Submittals/Approvals as it applies to the project

Have general mathematical skills to manipulate standard design formulas

Site visits to review and determine compliance of construction with design

Redline Design/Check/QAQC plan sets for CAD Techs

Other assigned duties as required

REQUIRED EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS

Minimum of four-year degree in Civil or related Environmental Engineering with 2 semesters of computer-aided drafting course work or equivalent experience

EIT Certified or obtainable within one year.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

5+ years of extensive drafting and engineering technician experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D for detailed civil design site/land development

Technical knowledge of CAD operations and civil engineering

Use of non-CAD Civil Engineering Design Tools (spreadsheets, Pipe System design, Stormwater design)

Effective communication skills both oral and written

Effective interpersonal skills with coworkers and public agency officials

Moderate contact with outside agencies and project team members

Ability to build strong relationships

Must be flexible to changes in work assignments on short notice and/or on a daily basis as changes occur in project needs
