Overview DataSoft Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Principal Plumbing Designer to join our client in Greenville, SC.
S3D + Extracted ISO Experience REQUIRED.
Responsibilities
Highly skilled in computer aided design (CAD) with demonstrated experience with computer aided drafting applications to originate and produce drawings and 3D models of moderate to advanced complexity.
3D modeling experience required (S3D).
Read, interpret, and generate design drawings of moderate to advanced complexity with minimal supervision from engineering.
Walk down field systems with minimal guidance, interpret field direction, generate advanced design details, create new drawings, modify existing drawings, and direct, check and approve work done by other designers.
Develop estimates, schedules, staffing requirements, progress reports, key quantities tracking reports, project scope of services, scope of facilities etc.
Serve as an Area Lead Designer providing guidance/supervision to designers under general supervision of the Discipline Lead Engineer or Design Supervisor.
Prepare and check designs of advanced complexity utilizing 3D modeling and 2D CADD automation tools.
Coordinate technical issues with other disciplines, project management, vendors and clients.
Execute work in compliance with Project Quality Plan and procedures, approved project scope, cost and schedule baselines.
Perform bulk material take-off analysis and tabulations.
Provide technical support to activities associated with equipment and material procurement and subcontracting including review of vendor submittals.
Provide technical support to activities associated with construction administration including response to construction requests-for-information and field changes.
Qualifications
Working knowledge of Federal (including Department of Energy Orders), State, and Local codes and standards applicable to specialized (nuclear or other areas) engineering design.
Combination of education and 15 years’ experience (associate degree preferred) in drafting related to Engineering and Construction (nuclear preferred).
Drafting/designer experience in engineering fields such as electrical, mechanical, structural, communications, architectural, fire protection or civil; Plumbing Design is key.
Proficient in communication with project management, coworkers, clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
Advanced knowledge of discipline codes and standards.
Ability to perform work in compliance with applicable local, state, and federal codes, statutes and guidelines.
Attention to detail and time-conscious and time-effective manner.
Intermediate computer and software skills: word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet, electronic presentation programs.
Significant experience providing engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services on large industrial projects.
Proficiency executing large engineering projects utilizing 3D modeling and 2D CADD automation tools in a multi-discipline environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate degree in related technical field of study.
Experience with design of systems, structures and components for nuclear facilities under the requirements of ASME NQA-1.
Knowledge of commercial availability and cost of materials.
Practical field experience.
EPC project experience for U.S. Department of Energy or other U.S. Federal Government Agency, nuclear facilities under a nuclear quality assurance program, manufacturing, pharmaceutical or biotechnology.
Advanced knowledge and proficiency using Intergraph Smart3D (S3D) software with minimum 3 years of experience.
Discipline Specific Job Requirements
Proficiency utilizing 3D modeling and 2D CADD automation tools in the design of HVAC or plumbing systems.
3D modeling and 2D design for plumbing/piping/hvac.
